Llanilar Church

St Hilary's will be open between 10 and 4 on Saturday the 9th of September.

4 Churches Walk or crawl (16 1/2 miles)

At 10am September 9th Rev Rhys Morgan the Priest in Charge of 4 churches in the upper towi valley will with several supporters be taking a long walk between all the churches in his care on the first day of the European Heritage Days t scheme.
He will start from Cynghordy Church at 10am Sept 9th and continue to Ystrad Ffin the most remote church in his care returning to Rhandirmwyn and then the last leg to St Michael's Cilycwm.
Rev Morgan said "I think keeping churches open is so very important in communicating the Christian Gospel and the areas's rich history. I saw this weekend as not just to open the churches to visitors which we do anyway, but obviously some of my Churches are very old buildings and need a considerable amount of money to keep them in good condition and also the cost of providing a priest in this part of the world. The £600 that I have raised with a fortnight to go before the walk seems to me to be proof of the goodwill and support that churches still have in this day and age."

PEMBROKE AND STAKPOLE

St Mary Pembroke, St Michael Pembroke, SS James & Elidyr Stackpole are open each day during daylight hours.

In particular, St Mary's (as part of the Open Churches Scheme, which I believe is about to fold!) has especially flagged up' September 9th for the above.

Wiston

Wiston Church is open every day, and we have recently developed a new visitor’s leaflet “Footsteps around the church” to help people discover something more about the church in Wiston.

The churches in Walton East and Clarbeston are not normally open during the week, but keys are available from neighbouring farms for visitors.

I would be interested to know more about how you are going to be promoting the churches in the diocese to visitors, and if the above proves to be successful we may well consider making arrangements another year for all our churches to be open on this day.

Aberystwyth Holy Trinity

On Saturday 9 Sept., Holy Trinity Church will be open with guides present,
from 1pm - 4 pm.

On Saturday 16 Sept., the Shrewsbury and District Organists' Association are paying a visit at 2 pm. The organ at Holy Trinity Church is a fine instrument by Peter Conacher of Huddersfield,rebuilt by Percy Daniel in the 1970s.
The visit will include a recital by Michael James FRCO.

Ciliau Aeron Group

Two of the four churches in the Ciliau Aeron Group play an important part in the ministry to tourists and are open daily (except Mondays) from Easter to the end of October.
We work in Llanerchaeron St. Non in conjunction with the National Trust and attract a good number of tourists who greatly appreciate the church being open.

Information about the church is available at all times through the National Trust or church members.
Ciliau Aeron attracts fewer visitors but the fact that it is open is still appreciated not least by visitors to the adjoining garden centre.
The two other churches in the group are not normallt open to the public at present although we have plans to do so at Dihewyd, St. Vitalis. Anyone wishing to visit Mydroilyn, Holy Trinity can obtain the key easily.

However we will open the churches on the European Heritage Days and will try to ensure a presence in the churches some of the time.
